Oxalis Adventure Tours was established in July 2011 and is headquartered in the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Phong Nha-Ke Bang National Park.
Oxalis Adventure Tours holds an International Tour Operator’s Certificate issued by the National Tourism Bureau of Vietnam, and is made up of a professional team of experts on cave research, safety, tourism and sustainable development.
Our mission is to create a world-class adventure tourism business in Quang Binh province by providing professional services of the highest quality, while also supporting the local community both indirectly through increasing tourism of the whole province and directly through stable employment opportunities.
Safety is our number one priority, as evidenced by the way we run our tours, the way our guides are trained, and the extent to which we put safety first in all matters.
Community is also our passion at Oxalis. Most people employed by Oxalis are locals from Phong Nha or Tan Hoa village, and at the heart of Oxalis is the desire to provide stable employment for local people.

MEET THE TEAM
Chau A Nguyen – Owner & General Director
Chau A Nguyen was born and grew up in Phong Nha Village, and moved to Ho Chi Minh City (Saigon) for further education in 1992.
Chau A returned in 2011 to develop Oxalis in an effort to both showcase his amazing backyard whilst developing employment and improving the living standards for local people in his home town.
Chau A is also the founder of OneStep Viet Co. Limited, a local firm specializing in social compliance monitoring and sustainable development in Vietnam and South East Asia.
He has several years working in different businesses and industries; tour guide for various tour offices, senior auditor for PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC), and Corporate Responsibility Specialist for Nike Inc., Vietnam.
Chau A has extensive knowledge and skills in adventure after several years travelling around the world on his assignments. Together with his professional background, Chau A will bring the best value to both adventure travellers and staffs.
Howard & Deb Limbert – Technical Directors
Both Howard and Deb have been exploring caves throughout the world including Mexico, Borneo, Australia, Vietnam and many places in Europe.
Since 1990 they have explored caves in many parts of Vietnam discovering some of the finest caves in the world including Hang Son Doong.
Both are members of the British Cave Research Association. Both Howard and Deb have been the leaders of all the 15 caving expeditions to Vietnam.
They have been also involved in filming in Vietnam with National Geographic, BBC, NHK Japan and Vietnam TV.
Howard and Deb are our Technical Directors, they are in charge of technical training for guides, porters, ensuring safety for our trips, and responsible for all Son Doong Expeditions and Tu Lan Expeditions.
Nguyen Ha Dung – Assistant General Director
Ha Dung has been with Oxalis since 2017. Her previous 5-year experiences with PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) as an auditor serves as an ideal foundation for her role as an Assistant General Director at Oxalis. She is responsible for supervising accounting activities, giving recommendations on the internal management system and analyzing financial investments to ensure compliance and efficient use of finance resources.
Ha Dung hold the Bachelor of Accounting and Auditing from the University of Economics and Law (UEL) – a member of Vietnam National University, Ho Chi Minh City. She is also a member of Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) – UK since February 2016. Her mission is to bring global standards into operations to enhance the quality of local businesses, that’s why she always works with all her heart & finds inspiration in it.
Born and raised in Da Lat city, she nurtured a love for nature and greeneries, thus becoming a part of Oxalis Adventure is like a miracle comes true for her to continue developing this passion.
Duc Nguyen – Operation Director
Back in 2012, a classmate of Duc approached him about a tour guide position at Oxalis Adventure Tours. Duc, who had been searching for a new challenge, jumped on board. He started working with the belief that success would only come to him through his hard-working attitude and endless passion for nature. He strengthened his skills, and pushed through during the early days when facilities were short, Phong Nha was not yet a hotspot tourist destination, and tours were limited.
Duc soon became the Tour Guide Team Leader, and today he is the Operations Director. He is an essential element of Oxalis, which is verified by his high performance in leading the Operations Team, Tour Guide Team, and in his involvement in large scale projects such as the Good Morning America broadcast.
Duc not only cares about improving tour quality, but it is his sincere vision to continue to put Oxalis on the map, and provide dream adventure tours for customers for many years to come.
Dat Nguyen – Associate Director of Sales & Marketing
Born in Quang Binh, Dat always cherished the dream to contribute to his motherland. The opportunity arose when he had just completed his university degree in Thailand and heard about Oxalis. Dat joined the company as an intern, and quickly showed his abilities off with his organization of the Tu Lan Adventure Race.
Following the success of his internship, Dat officially became a member of the Oxalis Marketing Team. Since then he has been responsible for the annual organization of the Adventure Race, marketing materials, and events such as Oxalis’ 5th birthday celebration. With his vibrant spirit, Dat embraces challenges with perpetual energy and continuously proves his role on the team.
Dat is one of the key people who are generating great ideas for team-building products and a developing a new vision for Oxalis Adventure Tours within the jungles and caves of the Cave Kingdom of Vietnam in Quang Binh.
Le Hai Yen – Adventure Sales Manager
After graduating from Foreign Trade University as a successful candidate in International Business, Yen worked for a trading company in Ho Chi Minh City for a year before accepting the invitation to return to her hometown and become a member of the Oxalis family.
Yen joined the Adventure Consultant Team in Oxalis’ early days, when there were only three salespersons and barely an office. Working conditions were not optimal, but the sales team overcame these barriers and more to deliver the best customer service they could. Through hard work and natural intelligence, Yen became a knowledgeable manager, and her experience allows her to be a strong leader of the Adventure Consultant Team.
Yen is a dynamic young lady, who find happiness in the little things in life. This is especially true at Oxalis, where she can be found happily enjoying cycling along the Son River, swimming, kayaking, and improving her water skipper skills.
Ngoc Nguyen – Marketing Manager
Ngoc originates from Quang Binh before going to Australia to study business & marketing. After finishing her BA from La Trobe University, Melbourne; she moved to Seoul, South Korea and started working as a flight attendant in Korean Airlines for one year to pursue her dream of travelling around the world.
She, later with diversity understanding from previous job, decided to go back to her homeland and work in tourism industry by applying to marketing department of Oxalis Adventure. With strong background of media marketing & skills in designs, Ngoc pushes the company’s creative capabilities to the next level and ensures that the visual output exceeds the expectations, creates an effective brand awareness of Oxalis in domestics & worldwide.

Our expert travel specialists can help you with all your questions and concerns, ranging from supporting you in determining which tour is most suitable for you, booking your tour, assisting you with details regarding your arrival and departure, and much more. Most of our travel specialists are local and are well versed in exactly how to plan your next jungle and caving adventure!
Our adventure guides are the life of the party! These guys and girls have endless amounts of energy and are the perfect leaders for all the fun you’ll be experiencing in our jungle and caves.
They are all Vietnamese, fluent in English and highly trained in outdoor safety, first aid, rescue, emergency procedures. All of the members of Guide Team are internationally qualified and granted the membership of British Cave Research Association (UK). They also spend two months every year to attend the recurrent training to improve the tour quality at its top safety & excitements.
You are guaranteed to have an amazing time with these guys running the show!
Our porter team is the backbone of our tours. Without them, there would be no evening fire, mouthwatering dinner, or tents to sleep in.
The porter team is made up of some of the strongest, energetic jungle men around. They are attending recurrent training every year to enhance their operating skills, abilities of handling emergency situations & even English knowledge!
They carry their packs as if they are as light as feathers, and they are known for not only their strength but also their love of singing, especially traditional Vietnamese songs!
Our cave experts are made up of members from the British Cave Research Association, some of who were the original explorers of many of the caves highlighted on our tours.
These experts hail all the way from the UK and are present on all of our expeditions (such as the Son Doong Cave Expedition and the Tu Lan Expedition). They have, on average, about 25 years of caving experience apiece. Their knowledge of the caves is vast and wide, so you can expect them to answer any and all questions you have during expeditions.
Behind the Scenes:
Our growing operations, administration and accounting team are a dedicated crew who work hard day and night to make sure your caving adventure is ready to go when the roosters start calling each morning.
Our team is made up of our lovely cleaning ladies and storage team, our friendly and courteous drivers, accountants, and of course all of the other back-office team responsible for the smooth operations of the company. We would be lost without all these vital members of our team!
