Wrap up 2015 Son Doong season

From Vietnamese rapstars to schoolteachers, rocket scientists, Good Morning America and everyone in between, we’ve had an amazing range of tourists this year here to conquer Son Doong! 482 adventurers and 26 media successfully completed the tour and returned with incredible stories, photos and memories to last a lifetime. One customer even left here with double the memories after joining two back-to-back tours, which is a first in the expedition’s history.

Our Son Doong tour ventures deep into the jungle of the Phong Nha – Ke Bang National Park before 5 days and 4 nights spent in the world’s largest and 3rd largest caves. Every tour managed to see both Hang En and the entirety of Son Doong, with very few people turned around. We have seen an improvement in the fitness and readiness level of our clients this year, and our season saw only 2 minor accidents which were dealt with extremely well by cave experts and especially the amazing porter team. We give loads of credit to our porter team, who even saved 2 tours this year that otherwise would have to have been cancelled due to high water levels within the cave. Their quick-thinking and ingenuity led to the construction of sturdy makeshift bridges which safely carried our tourists, guides and porters across the rivers — what an adventure! Our guests have raved about the food in the cave, thanks to our talented chefs and some new menu items they’ve created. Other highlights include several couples getting engaged while on tour, plenty of birthday celebrations, and the first wedding photos being taken in Son Doong. Besides a few sporadic heavy rains, weather conditions were extremely good this year. Almost every tour saw the spectacular sunbeams at “Watch Out for Dinosaurs”, and we’ve seen some incredible photography and time lapses from this epic viewpoint. With 2015 expeditions wrapped as a success, we greatly look forward to more adventures in 2016.
