FAQ: Tu Lan 1-day Experience

What if I am a solo traveler, can I join a group?

Solo travelers are most welcome and make up a large percentage of most groups.

Why do I have to sign your Release Form?

We require customers to sign our Release Form to confirm they accept this is an adventure tour and they have to follow our guide’s instructions and safety rules. Customers also accept they have some responsibilities for their own safety.

Which months of the year do you run this tour, and which are the best months to go?

If you enjoy swimming and warm weather, please book the tour from April to August. If you are looking for a warm campfire at night, and cooler weather, you can book the tour between November to March.

Note: Due to safety reasons, there is no swimming in the caves if the temperature is below 18 degrees Celsius.

Do I have to know how to swim to join this tour?

Yes, you do. You have to swim on this tour. There will be 1 swimming section of approximately 100 m throughout the tour. Life jackets will be provided by Oxalis and are mandatory regardless of your swimming ability.

Highlights of the tour?

If you are looking for a real taste of jungle life but don’t have enough time for an overnight tour, this is your top choice. You’ll get to cool off in the hot summertime months thanks to a refreshing swimming session and the primary jungle atmosphere.

Can I book a private tour?
Can my kids join this tour? Why is your lower age limit set at 16?

In all Oxalis Adventure Tours, we have strict age limit from 16 years old to make sure that all our participants meet tour adventure level requirements and enjoy the tours. The age limit is set for safety reasons by our advisors from the British Cave Research Association.
If your kids are under 16 years old but over 12 years old, we can help work out private tour itineraries if possible. In this private tour, you will have your own tour guide and porter team to take care of your family.

Otherwise, we would suggest you to take a classic tour or a conservation tour in Phong Nha, which also give many fun experiences in the local area.

Can I arrive in Phong Nha on the morning of the tour? Can I leave Phong Nha the same day as the tour ends?

The tour will depart Phong Nha between 07:00 – 07:30 am, so we highly recommend you arrive in Phong Nha one day in advance and get ready here before that time. If you plan to come to Phong Nha in the morning, please come sooner than 07:00 am in Phong Nha.

If you plan to leave Phong Nha after tour ends, please arrange your transportation no sooner than 8:00 pm.

Do you have any shoes I can rent?

Yes. We provide jungle trekking boots sized from 36 to 46 which are available for anyone to borrow on the morning of the tour date. Please be advised that you need to prepare a pair of long, high quality socks to keep you from getting blisters for the first time using our shoes.

Do I really need to book this tour in advance?

Yes. The tour is usually booked in advance. Especially if you are short of time, it’s best to plan your tour as soon as you can so that you can join on the date you most prefer.

After you make a booking, a member of our team will follow up within 48 hours with your invoice, payment link, and further tour information.

How can I pay? Can I pay via credit card? What is your cancellation policy?
